Unconditional Security of a Quantum-key Storage Device

چکیده

First implementations of Quantum-key Distribution Cryptosystems have shown the need to use a storage device on which to keep a copy of the key that such cryptosystems create and distribute between a pair of users. Such users must be able to access their device to take enough key to code and decode the messages they send each other over a public channel. Because of the importance of the key stored on such device, it is critical to ensure that the device could not be victim of natching attack from the public channel and that no information about the key could be stolen. This article presents a suite of three different architectures which aim is to keep such device totally safe, allowing any user to communicate safely with the other one using the key stored on it.

Unconditional security at a low cost

By simulating four quantum key distribution (QKD) experiments and analyzing one decoy-state QKD experiment, we compare two data post-processing schemes based on security against individual attack by Lütkenhaus, and unconditional security analysis by Gottesman-Lo-Lütkenhaus-Preskill. Our results show that these two schemes yield close performances. Since the Holy Grail of QKD is its unconditiona...

Unconditional security of quantum key distribution over arbitrarily long distances

Quantum key distribution is widely thought to offer unconditional security in communication between two users. Unfortunately, a widely accepted proof of its security in the presence of source, device, and channel noises has been missing. This long-standing problem is solved here by showing that, given fault-tolerant quantum computers, quantum key distribution over an arbitrarily long distance o...

Unconditional security of quantum key distribution and the uncertainty principle

An approach to the unconditional security of quantum key distribution protocols is presented, which is based on the uncertainty principle. The approach applies to every case that has been treated via the argument by Shor and Preskill, but it is not necessary to find quantum error correcting codes. It can also treat the cases with uncharacterized apparatuses. The proof can be applied to cases wh...

Security Aspect of Quantum Key Distribution

Is the newly born quantum cryptography the ultimate solution for information security? A technique needs to be both theoretically strong and practically viable. But quantum cryptography comes to naught in the latter. Unlike many of the classical cryptosystems in use today, whose security often draws on unproven assumptions about the computational complexity of mathematical problems, the securit...
